48 HOURS IN TRINIDAD
Back in September when I got wind of a flight deal from New York to Trinidad around Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday timing, it was definitely one of those “book now and figure it out later” moments. Fast forward to the first wintery New York City day and I was so grateful to have a Caribbean escape in-pocket. Off we were, me and my boy Brian, to a little turn up in Trinidad and turn down in Tobago. I had long heard of Trinidad’s carnival as one of the largest in the world,

MONTREAL BECKONS! A FOODIE'S PARADISE
Every year for my birthday, I like to get away. This year, due to a quite heavy travel schedule, I chose to stay relatively close to home and decided to head north to Canada. I wanted a European experience but did not want to fly to Europe, so I headed to Montreal, a city I had always heard described as the Canadian Paris. This was also my very first trip to Canada (weird - I know), despite its easy accessibility from New York. Flight and hotel booked, and one restaurant reco

BROOKLYN BRUNCH: PEACHES HOT HOUSE
One of my favorite brunch spots in Brooklyn is super low key. Peaches Hot House, sister restaurant to Peaches (both in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn) offers a unique take on southern, country breakfast in NYC. And is VERY affordable.
As if Peaches main wasn't small enough, the Hot House is even smaller with an amazing rustic vibe that makes it feel more cozy and exclusive than small. My favorite is the granola crusted French toast with maple bourbon peaches. (Peaches are fruits, so th

Duane Park NYC - Burlesque Show and Great Eats
There are a few moments in life where you need to celebrate something and a simple dinner and/or drinks won't do. You want an experience - something to write home about, something that will be a time stamp for life and remind you of the high. Recently my girlfriend got promoted to Director at Viacom, one of the very few Black women to do so. At the age of 30. That's cause for such a celebration of there ever was one.
Queue up Duane Park on Bowery St in NYC. From the outside

WHY I LOVE LA
Yall know from my previous posts that I LOVE LA. Everything from the perfect weather, palm trees, beaches and mountain views, to amazing food and laid back people to match the vibe. So when I got word that I had to go to Los Angeles for two video shoots for work, I was super excited! A whole 5 days in LA, not bad. Considering I used to be out to LA 4-5x a year and I haven't been in the last year or so, I felt long overdue. I spent my time zipping across to what felt like ever

PIT STOP IN ATLANTA
Another quick trip to Atlanta for work. You know what that means, good eating! This time we were visiting Spelman and Morehouse's campus for the SpelHouse 2014 Homecoming event. It was cool to check out the campuses, with all the legacy and black history, and the beautiful buildings and lawns. It made me miss that campus life, just a little bit. There's so much to love about where we stayed - The Glenn Hotel. Everything in the hotel is chic and modern but not in a pretentious

One Night In The Rouge - Baton Rouge, Louisiana
I've been to New Orleans a few times but never had the pleasure of visiting Louisiana's capitol, Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge is way more spread out, countrified and chill than New Orleans. Outside of the occasional lake front picnic set up, there aren't that many markers indicative of where you are in the dirty souf, which is fine. I wasn't here for that. I had a work trip to Baton Rouge that happened to align with Southern University's Centennial Homecoming, so I had quite the

Brunch Fever In Williamsburg - Brooklyn, NY
I had one of the best brunches I've had in a long time this weekend. If you're in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you've got to check out this spot called Sweet Chick. It's one of the best fried chicken and waffles in NYC (if not THEEE best,) my favorite shrimp and grits in NYC and bacon bacon bacon everywhere! I also tried a special - The Rosemary and Bacon Biscuit - rosemary and bacon baked into an amazing buttery biscuit, with egg and cheese on the sandwich. YES WE CAN! My cousin
