Recap: Afropunk Festival 2014 - Brooklyn, NY
For those of you who have never been or heard of Afropunk Festival before, think of it as the culmination of all that is epic in cool-kid underground music, whether by nature or my choice, in the seam that locks soul, funk, punk and electric music together. And what better place than Brooklyn, NY, which has for as long as I can remember been the epicenter of underground coolness, and more recently than not with the migration of too-cool for school gentrifiers, making it the r

Peace Out - New Orleans, LA
New Orleans was a great time as usual! I got to eat so much amazing food, mix and mingle with so many celebs backstage at ESSENCE Festival, I had floor seats to see Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Mary J Blige, Trey Songz, Nas and the Purple Man himself - Prince. I got to take in the sites and culture. What I love most about New Orleans is that it seems like its own little country, with its own distinct culture, music, food and so much more. Always Repping - Brooklyn, NY
This weekend I took a trip to the new Wholefoods in Brooklyn (whoa!, Brooklyn done came up!) It's located on 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue in Park Slope. First I had a 5-year blog anniversary event to attend for Renae at In Her Shoes Blog in DUMBO, Brooklyn. I knew I would bump into a lot of my media and entertainment industry folks that I hadn't seen in a while. Later on that night I was hosting a birthday dinner for my special lady at ABC Kitchen - classy, upscale, above Unions Square in Manhattan. (PS th

Summer Pastel for La Marina - New York, NY
I don't know what it is about me but I've always had a theme in how I'd like to dress for a segment of life. I went through a crisp phase, a hood rat phase, a rugged phase. As I got older, these phases started to get limited down to summer themes. Last summer I was "on a boat" meaning lots of deck shoes, polos, bright shorts. This summer, I'm in a jungle. Lots of tribal prints, bright and pastel colors, slightly less refined. On Saturday I FINALLY made it to La Marina in Wash
