I DON'T DO CLUBS: BLACK-OWNED RESTAURANT MONTH
You ever see an idea and think to yourself, "this is exactly what we needed!"? Well, for me being an avid foodie and supporter of black businesses that's the feeling when I saw that idontdoclubs.com launched the first black-owned restaurant month after the success of their black owned owned restaurants listings for New York, DC and Atlanta.
Most foodies in New York City have indulged in NY Restaurant Week which launched in 1992. The food experiences are amazing, but more times than not is putting business in the hands of everyone except our own community. What better way to keep money circulating amongst the black community then by also supporting people who've stepped out on a dream to launch and business AND enjoying some great cuisine and convo in the process? Sounds like a triple hitter.
Props to Genese Jamilah, Founder of I Don't Do Clubs, for the amazing idea and executing. Hopefully this is the first of many.
