Traveling Beauties: Tiffany

What do you do for work?

I’m the personal style blogger of The Werk! Place (www.the-werk-place.com) and a fashion & beauty freelance writer for Hello Beautiful.

Where are you from originally and where do you live now?

I’m originally from Southfield, Michigan. I currently reside right outside of Phoenix, AZ but I’m a student of the world and stamp my passport regularly.

What are some of your favorite places to hang out and dine out in your city?

  • The Breakfast Club in Old Town Scottsdale is one of my favs for brunch. They’re only open for breakfast; so don’t show up after 3pm.

  • Brio Tuscan Grille does a pretty kick ass happy hour. You can have a full meal including adult beverages for a little less than $12.

  • Blue Wasabi has amazing sushi and martinis. Yes, the wasabi is actually blue.

  • Kazimerz Wine Bar in Old Town Scottsdale has daily live music and wine, of course.

  • The Montelucia Resort and Spa will allow you to get your life back in order after enjoying a relaxing massage, cocktails at the pool and taking in all the amazing mountain views.

  • Lo Lo’s Chicken and Waffles… if it’s a cheat day.

Tell me about 3-4 of your favorite travel experiences/destinations and what did you like about them?

  • Johannesburg, South Africa: Johannesburg was so full of culture and history.

  • Barcelona, Spain: Respect the siesta! I’ve never seen a city shut down before! They don’t play around about their holidays or their siesta. They, also, don’t disappoint when it comes to the nightlife scene.

  • Amsterdam, Netherlands: It’s not for the reason that you think. Amsterdam has really amazing architecture and the canals on every other street were a nice surprise. It was very scenic.

Do you have anything on your travel list for within the next 12 months?

No but I’m looking for a travel deal (read: airline glitch) to Sydney, Australia. I need to roam around South America soon. Brazil, Argentina, and Chile are definitely on the list. I also want to check out Cuba now that relations between the US and Cuba have been re-established.

Are there any beauty/hair must-haves when traveling?

I’m a firm believer in low maintenance hair while traveling. My hair is short. So for some destinations, I’ll start off with a fresh do and pack several hats and turbans to hide bad hair a few days into the trip. When I was in South Africa, I went for some Bo Derek inspired cornrows and they were LIFE CHANGING. Talk about get up and go. I was definitely spoiled by that hairstyle.

Being a fashion girl - who are some of your favorite designers?

I just discovered Kye during the latest NYFW SS16 and I’m a fan. I, also, love ASOS, H&M, Zara, BCBG Max Azria, Sophia Webster, Fendi, Marni, Adidas, Charlotte Olympia, Chloe and the list goes on and on. I’m a sucker for imaginative design and quality.

What is the best purchase (fashion) you've ever made while traveling?

I bought a necklace from a designer named Pchulik and this wood messenger bag from Indalo while I was in South Africa. Super dope purchases!

If there was one other place in the US or internationally where you could live parallel lives with your current city life, where would it be?

I could totally live in Barcelona, Spain (I just need to learn a little Spanish first) and Johannesburg, South Africa.

What are your favorite indulgences while overseas (ie. chocolate from ___, croissants from Paris, tea in England, oxtail/Devon House in Jamaica).

There’s this cheesecake in Paris at Hotel Costes that will make you rethink your entire life; the smoked salmon bagel sandwich from the Beigel Bake in London is open 24 hours and perfect for a quick cheap after-the-club snack, the Red Rooibos tea and the braai from Jozi’s in Johannesburg is everything; anything that has tomatoes in Barcelona; and the food from Spang Makandra in Amsterdam will have you talking to yourself!
