SOUTH AFRICAN SAFARI

My fiancee and I recently took a trip to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. It was an AMAZING experience that I will be sure to share details on in the next few weeks. However, by far the highlight of the trip was the Safari experience that we had at Invedoorn Game Reserve. Highlight is an understatement. More like mindblowing.

Although we very much enjoyed the city experiences in South Africa, what's a trip to the motherland without being able to see exotic animals roaming naturally? "The Big Five" (African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and White/Black rhinoceros) are a mere two and a half hours outside of Cape Town, at Inverdoorn Game Reserve.

Since we were only in Cape Town for three and a half days, we decided to do a day trip to the Safari instead of an overnight stay, although I can totally see the allure of staying for multiple days at invedoor. We were picked up very early morning, around 6am, and enjoyed a scenic drive to Inverdoorn travelling through the mountains the wine region. The drive was as smooth as it could possibly be, with amazing views literally at every turn. We even saw some small baboons at several points along the drive, crossing the road from the mountains. From that we knew we were in for an amazing day!

As part of the experience, we stopped at a quant breakfast spot right in the middle of the mountainous regions. We got some fresh baked bread, with eggs and coffee to help wake us up as we neared our destination.

About 40 minutes more of driving and finally, we had arrived! The lodge was really well designed, with a pool, bungalos for overnight guests, shopping area for last minute needs and more.

We were transferred into a 4 x 4 safari vehicle, accompanied by an experienced game ranger who happened to be smart and really seemed to care about animals, which was a huge plus. And that was it. We were off to a day of viewing all the animals you could ever want. We were literally feet away from elephants, lions, cheetahs, hippos, rhinos, zebras and so much more! Photos don't even do this experience justice but I tried my best. Truly a #travelgoals experience! Thanks to the teams at Invedoorn and SITA World Tours. Get into the photos below:
